Is Therapy Right for me?
Therapy is a highly personalized endeavor, and people seek treatment for a variety of reasons. Throughout the therapeutic process, expect to work hard to achieve your goals, strengthen your relationship with others and yourself, and improve self-awareness. An integral piece of therapy is having a great connection and rapport with your therapist, and each therapist has his or her own unique style. I'm hopeful that I can meet your therapeutic needs, but if necessary, I'm happy to provide referrals to other providers. Therapy should always be conducted in an environment of trust and understanding.
What Should I expect in session?
In order for therapy to be effective, it's important that a safe space is created in therapy. I work hard to create an atmosphere of warmth and collaboration, one in which there is no room for judgments. After the first few sessions, conversations between client and therapist will flow organically, and it's a client-directed process.
Is Therapy confidential?
Yes, all information you share with your therapist is confidential. However, there are some exceptions. The exceptions are: if you have intent to harm yourself or someone else, suspected child or elder abuse, or in the case of legal proceedings. Additionally, if you are paying with insurance, there is some information that gets released to your insurance company, like dates of service and diagnosis.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I accept insurance from several different insurance companies. Co-pays are due at time of service. Please see "Rates and Insurance" section for more information.
How long will i be in therapy?
The length of treatment varies quite a bit from person to person. Some folks prefer shorter-term therapy, while some therapeutic processes can take several months. Length of treatment is highly individualized and is based on collaboration with client and therapist. Sessions usually occur on a weekly or biweekly basis.
